Proposed Landfill Rates for 2025/26

The fees and charges for the York Valley landfill are set by the Nelson Tasman Regional Landfill Business Unit (NTRLBU) and are confirmed by the Nelson City and Tasman District Councils as part of the annual plan process.

The following proposed rates for waste delivered to York Valley and Eves Valley Landfill will be applicable for the 2025/2026 financial year (effective 1 July 2025).

These proposed charges will be confirmed once the Councils annual plan process is finalised in June 2025.

Proposed rates shown below are per tonne, excluding GST:

York Valley Landfill

• General Refuse $266

• HAIL material/Hazardous Waste/Asbestos $267

• Polystyrene $3400

• Light Wastes & Sawdust (treated & untreated) $375

Eves Valley Landfill

• Eves Valley - Class 3 Contaminated Soil $164

These rates are an increase of 6.4% from the 2024/2025 year.

This principal drivers for the increased fees are:

• a 2.2% increase in landfill charges to accommodate inflation, and

• an additional $5 per tonne to accommodate the additional Waste Minimisationlevy. This levy increases from $60 per tonne to $65 per tonne for the2025/2026 year. If you would like to make any comments or discuss these changes, please e-mail landfill@ncc.govt.nz
