Leachate Overflow
-
Landfill Management Plan 2023 - Chapter 4.14.8.2.
The leachate pipe network fails beyond the landfill toe. This could cause the leachate pipe network to become broken or blocked which could result in seepage of leachate into surrounding soils or overflow at manholes.
The leachate discharge pipework fails, and the leachate is not able to be discharged into the wastewater system.
The leachate flows exceed the rate at which leachate can be discharged to the wastewater system. This could be caused by stormwater intrusion to the landfill or too much liquid waste generating leachate at higher volumes than can be discharged to wastewater.
